Job Description:
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) is excited to announce its Internship Program for the year 2024 in the United Kingdom. This program provides a unique opportunity for driven individuals to gain hands-on experience in international relations, diplomacy, and trade policy within a dynamic and diverse work environment.
Responsibilities: Interns at DFAT will be entrusted with a variety of responsibilities, including:
- Assisting in research and analysis related to international affairs, trade agreements, and diplomatic missions.
- Supporting the preparation of briefing materials and reports for senior officials.
- Participating in meetings, conferences, and diplomatic events to gain exposure to diplomatic protocols.
- Contributing to the development of communication materials and outreach initiatives.
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams on special projects to advance diplomatic and trade goals.
Qualifications: To be eligible for the DFAT Internship Program, candidates should meet the following qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a relevant undergraduate or postgraduate program, such as international relations, political science, law, or a related field.
- Strong academic performance and a keen interest in international affairs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
- Demonstrated analytical and research skills.
Experience: While prior internship experience is not mandatory, candidates with exposure to international relations, diplomacy, or trade policy will be considered favorably.
Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong interpersonal and networking skills.
- Research and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Adaptability and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
- Language skills (especially proficiency in additional languages) are desirable but not mandatory.
